New global scholarship programme

by | Apr 8, 2024

This new scholarship programme, funded through The R&A Foundation by Royal and Ancient Golf Club members, has been designed to provide a unique opportunity for up to 12 talented individuals to fulfil their career ambitions by participating in this potentially life-changing leadership-focused experience.

The scholarship programme not only provides financial support, but also the chance to be connected to a community of people who share a common passion about the future of the game. Through mentorship, education and training, the programme will help scholars enhance their skills and knowledge, better enabling them to become the next generation of golf industry leaders. Whether as future agronomists, coaches, engineers, executives or innovators, our scholars will help to define the future of the game, both on and off the golf course.

Please note, this initiative is not designed to support elite amateur golfers during their academic studies – our existing R&A Foundation Scholarship scheme already aids in that area – but rather to help create the strongest possible foundations for the future of our sport.

The scholarship programme will be promoted through The R&A’s broad global network of affiliates and other connections.

Applicants

The scholarship is open to individuals aged 18–25, who already have an active interest in golf and can demonstrate an exceptional commitment and contribution to the game, particularly those who:

  • Have ambitions to contribute significantly to golf throughout their lives, including candidates interested in industry-specific education, e.g. club management, agronomy, sports medicine, journalism, technology, equipment manufacturing, etc.
  • Volunteer actively within the golf community.
  • Demonstrate resilience in overcoming challenges or adversity.
  • Serve as strong role models for their peers, friends, and the younger generation by a clear demonstration of positive values such as determination, aptitude, and leadership.

The Scholarship Guidelines, some FAQs and details of how to apply can be found here.

Applications must be received by noon (GMT) on 25 April 2024.

Please contact RAClubScholarship@randa.org if you would like further information or have any queries.
