From the Lady Captain’s Desk,
Thank you to all for taking the time out of your lives to come and celebrate the ending of my captaincy with me. It really warms my heart to see so many of my friends here, and to those that are not here, we will miss them and they will no doubt miss a great evening!
Wow!! Before I carry on, I need to thank the committee for setting this up, naturally, the theme being Mexican, as all of you know I am not scared of a tequila or 2, and the look and feel of this room are just amazing. So … thank you ladies for all your hard work, not only here but in all walks when it was needed. I couldn’t have asked for a better team besides me. Can we stand and raise a glass to the committee.
To you very special ladies that make Randpark what it is today, I also thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your unwavering support over the last two difficult years. The kind words of encouragement that were whispered in my ear made it all worthwhile and more. There may have been times I made mistakes or made the wrong decision regarding something, but I always did it with the ladies best interest at heart. In all honesty, there were times when I felt like throwing in the towel, but I am not a quitter. It is not always easy for want of a phrase “to smile and wave” but I can assure you, I always tried my best and also to accommodate all. It has not always been a smooth road, but knowing I had all of you in my corner made it more than worth my while. I certainly have grown in this period
In 2 weeks’ time, I’m not sure what I am going to do with my time, when I am not booking times, cancelling times, arranging golf days, looking for partners etc. Possibly now is the time I should start concentrating on my paying job! I am sure it will take me some time to get used to, but I will be at a loss not interacting with at least one lady on a daily basis.
I am not going to stand up here and give a long speech, as due to restrictions still in place we need to get this party started! So from the very bottom of my heart and with heartfelt thanks – thank you ladies for everything you have done for me over the last 2 years.
On that note I would like to raise my glass to you ladies – each one of you has a very special place in my heart and I thank you once again!
Cheers
Debbie Gillings
